Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, (Ggsipu) New Delhi Overview
The first university, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), was founded in 1998 by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi under the terms of the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998, as amended in 1999.
It is a teaching and affiliated university with the implied goal of facilitating and promoting “studies, research, and extension work in evolving areas of higher learning with an emphasis on higher training, such as engineering, technology, organizational theory, pharmaceutics, pharmacy, healthcare, skills training, law, and other related fields, as well as to achieve excellence in these and related fields and other matters connected with or incidental to these.” The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India has granted it recognition under section 12B of the UGC Act.
