Nirma University, (NU) Ahmedabad Overview

Dr. Karsanbhai K Patel, a renowned industrialist and philanthropist and the founder of the Nirma Group of Industries, established the Nirma Education and Research Foundation (NERF) in 1994 with the vision of advancing higher education and offering exceptional educational opportunities to India's youth. In 1995, the NERF founded the Nirma Institute of Technology, which became affiliated with Gujarat University. Subsequently, in 1996, the Nirma Institute of Management was established.

In 2003, the Government of Gujarat approved the NERF's proposal to establish Nirma University in Ahmedabad. The university was founded under a special Act passed by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly, and it received recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act.

The NERF also prioritizes school education, recognizing the importance of a solid educational foundation. With this principle in mind, it operates two schools, 'Nirma Vidyavihar' in Bodakdev and Chharodi, Ahmedabad, focusing on
