Deshbandhu College, Delhi University, New Delhi Overview
The Ministry of Rehabilitation founded Deshbandhu College in 1952 to honour the late LalaDeshbandhu Gupta. The college began with only 72 students with courses such as Preparation (arts), Preparation (science), and Preparation (medical). The institution was taken over by the University of Delhi after being transferred to the Ministry of Education. Through campus recruiting, the college’s Career- Counseling and Placement Cell connects graduating students with relevant career prospects.
Deshbandhu is now a fully-fledged constituent college of the University of Delhi, and it has the distinction of being South Delhi’s oldest and biggest co-educational institution, offering Arts, Commerce, and Science programmes. The institution, which serves approximately 5000 students each year, provides seven postgraduate and eighteen undergraduate courses in fields ranging from vernaculars, history, cultural studies, economics, and business to all major aspects of science and mathematics.
